All participates will attend Daily English and Culture Classes. Subject matter for the classes will include Grammar, Writing & Spoken English as well as American Culture. The classes will be divided into two separate levels between the two age groups of participants.
The English practical training is developed to aid the participants in putting to test what is learned in the classroom.
The practical training will follow the classroom instruction. The activities are designed as both enjoyable and learning activities. The activities
are also age appropriate for the participants. We will visit museums such as CHOM-Children's Hand's on Museum, Birmingham Museum of Art, and
the Civil Rights Museum. We will also do such activities as shopping, seeing a movie, ice-skating and roller-skating. We will take local excursions
to the police and fire station and a picnic at Oak Mountain State park (weather permitting). We will spend time at local elementary and middle
schools. Tuscaloosa Children's Theatre will host a special production during the participants visit to Tuscaloosa. Along with these activities,
we will also visit the exciting McWane Center, the Birmingham Zoo and the Red Rooster Mini Farm. For additional information on these practical
training adventures check the websites listed below:
Evening activities will be each evening after dinner. They will give the participants a chance to bond with each other and the staff. The activities will be in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The evening activities for the most part will be separated by age group, since the home stay visit will be split between the first two weeks. Evening activities will include sporting events, movies, parties and local cultural excursions. Dinner will be combined with the evening activities.
